Cheetah Mobile’s Android Launcher Is The First To Feature Microsoft’s Cortana

Voice-activated assistants are in vogue. Apple has Siri, Android has Google Assistant, Samsung has Bixby, and now Microsoft's Cortana has found a mobile partner: Cheetah Mobile. You can recognize Cheetah as the company behind applications like Clean Master, but Cortana lives inside her CM Launcher for Android, which replaces the pre-installed application launcher on her phone. It is the first time that Cortana is integrated into a mobile launch application.

By adding Cortana, CM Launcher's voice-controlled features work with artificial intelligence and Microsoft's speech recognition system. For example, Cortana may be asked to make calls, read news, create and manage events, translate text and search the web. Cortana will also speak to make sure you remember things to do, help with recommendations and more. It's just the beginning of the relationship between Cheetah Mobile and Microsoft, with the promise of adding more features to CM Launcher in the future, some of which will be unique to the application. Beyond that, other applications of Cheetah Mobile will also benefit from the help of Cortana, with Cheetah Keyboard mentioned as a possible candidate.

Although this is Cortana's first appearance in an Android launcher application, both Microsoft and Cheetah Mobile have been working on artificial intelligence for some time. In April 2016, Cheetah Mobile promised an investment of $ 50 million to develop A.I. in its applications, and since then it has opened a research and development center in Silicon Valley, where the team works in A.I. and automatic learning. Use A.I. in everything from the News Republic app to its mobile advertising platform. He has also invested heavily in A.A. OrionStar firm, which provides voice technology for smart speakers, including one produced by Xiaomi.

Cortana on your own is also available for Android. The standalone application from Microsoft introduces the wizard and provides a similar degree of functionality to the Cheetah application, but without replacing the initiator of your phone. Microsoft's strategic vision refers to artificial intelligence several times, highlighting its importance to the company, along with plans to put A.I. in their own applications and services, many of which were discussed in the dedicated A.I. Summit event in San Francisco this week.

Cortana's version of CM Launcher by Cheetah Mobile is in beta open at this time, with a final version scheduled for January next year, but you can still try it now. Download and install CM Launcher, then register to be a beta tester and wait for the updated version to arrive on your phone. CM Launcher with Cortana is available in the USA UU., The United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Just be careful, CM Launcher really changes the look of your Android phone, and if you only use the free version, there are ads to support it.
